Terraria is being developed primarily for Windows, but we may bring it to iOS and/or Xbox platforms. Are there death penalties? Yes, In softcore mode, you drop half your coins, and in Hardcore mode your character drops everything and starts from scratch. Will there ever be pets in game? Maybe someday. Are there ever going to be other game modes? We have considered adding a Capture the Flag mode. Can server owners change the spawn rate? Currently server owners have no control of spawn rate, but that may change in the future. Is there a limit on the number of players on a server? Server hosts can set their own limit, otherwise the limit limited by what the server is able to handle. But the max available to the host is 255. What are the effects of lava? Lava damages your character very quickly, though you will have a few moments to get out depending on your armor and health How are boss battles invoked? Bosses have to be summoned, and each has it's own means and location to be summoned. However, sometimes they may appear at random if you are strong enough. What is in place to protect servers? Servers have password protection available to them, and you may kick and block IP addresses. Can things other than players be able to damage blocks? Right now the only thing that can damage blocks, other than people, are bombs which are thrown by people. Are there any other NPC's besides shopkeepers? We're working on adding many different kinds of friendly NPCs. How many monsters are in Terraria so far? As of 07/01/11 we have 36 monsters in the game. Our plans are to occasionally release free updates to fix bugs and add content. Are there classes to choose from? You can change gear during gameplay to suit your style. Eg: You can wear Mana regeneration gear and be a caster, wear defense gear to be a fighter, etc. Will there ever be negative status effects and elemental damages? Well buffs are in, and de-buffs and status effects could be on their way soon. What programing language is Terraria created in? C# in the XNA Game Studio.
